An extraordinary unit that features
three stars of the European Jazz scene

Eurostars Trio
Accompanying the piano player Enrico Pieranunzi, probably the most famous and admired Italian musician in the world, is the formidable drummer André Ceccarelli, historic icon of French jazz. The versatile Danish double bass player Thomas Fonnesbaek completes this exceptional European trio, representing a formidable tradition of exceptional instrumentalists that this Scandinavian country seems to produce en masse. The trio will propose a mix of standard and original compositions, which will surely elevate the music to great intensities and speeds, as it should be for this unmissable “Eurostars Trio”.

His refined drumming, his very personal
use of the movements, the phrasing and his dynamic swing,
all represent an authentic point of reference
for anyone who plays the drums.

“Enrico Pieranunzi breathes new life into contemporary
jazz”, Ray Spencer-Jazz Journal, “The most lyrically inventive of
contemporary pianists”, All about jazz, “Among the best
pianists in the world”, The Wall Street Journal.

An extraordinary session man,
Fonnesbaek has collaborated in many jazz recordings
since 1999, becoming a double bass player who is highly
sought after throughout the world.

Born in Nice in 1946, André Ceccarelli has assumed, over the years, the label of historic icon of French jazz. He is a world-class musician, and a first-class performer, with incredible sensitivity and control over his instrument, making him one of the best drummers of our time. At fifteen years of age, after having learned how to play the drums from his father in the Aimé Barelli orchestra at the Monaco Sporting Club casino, he started playing in the salons of “The Royal Hotel” of Nice, where he produced Dancing Tea, and this is where he was introduced to the Roboly brothers. Then, as per their request, he took part in rehearsals for the French rock band Les Chats Sauvages, becoming their drummer in 1962, the year that marked the beginning of his long career. He then left the group in 1964 in order to join Claude François, and after having played with many vaudevillians, he switched to Jazz, which he had always desired to do from the start. Many artists, from pop to jazz, have made use of his skills, both in records as well as on the stage. Here are some names: Milton Nascimento, Tania Maria, Lucio Dalla, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Enrico Rava, Kenny Wheeler, Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen, Jean-Luc Ponty, Stéphane Grappelli, Didier Lockwood, Chick Corea, Joey DeFrancesco, John McLaughlin, Biréli Lagrène, Philippe Catherine, Nguyên Lê and Sylvain Luc, Enrico Pieranunzi.
Born in Rome in 1949, Enrico Pieranunzi is one of the most versatile musicians in the European music scene. Within his particular sonic adventure, jazz and classical music coexist from the start, one right next to the other, and this is also the case with his extremely rich discography (more than 80 CDs), in which you can find prestigious collaborations with jazz luminaries like Chet Baker, Paul Motian, Charlie Haden, Marc Johnson and Joey Baron, in addition to a dual CD with Bruno Canino and works focusing on Scarlatti, Martinu and Gershwin. In other words, Blues, baroque and much more. An eclectic career in which piano music, composition and arrangement are inextricably intertwined and have often seen him engaged as the composer of music for film and theater. In addition to the stages of the main European countries, he has performed in South America, Japan and many times in the United States. He is the only Italian musician to have played and recorded more than once, under his own name, in the historic “Village Vanguard” of New York. Many of his compositions have become true standards, being played and recorded by musicians from all over the world, and have been published in the prestigious American “New Real Book”. Among these figure “Night Bird”, “Don’t forget the poet”, “Les Amants”, “Fellini’s Waltz”, “Je ne sais quoi”, “Trasnoche”, and “Coralie”.
Born in Helsingør in 1977, Thomas Fonnesbæk, versatile Danish double bass player, represents a formidable tradition of exceptional instrumentalists that this Scandinavian country seems to mass produce, so much so that enthusiasts see him more and more as the successor of the late great Nils-Henning Orsted Pedersen. He started playing the double bass at the age of twelve, entering the Scandinavian jazz scene at the end of the nineties. His first recordings were in 1999, with the Peter Poulsen Sextet, to then continue, in subsequent years, with the bands of Jacob Christoffersen, Kristian Jørgensen, Lars Jansson, Nikolaj Bentzon, Thomas Clausen, Monty Alexander, and Arron Parks, just to name a few. In 2012 he recorded his debut album Sound of My Colours with Lars Jansson and Paul Svanberg in Sweden, in 2015 he published his double album Eeg-Fonnesbaek with the singer Sinne Eeg and in 2018, he released the album Blue Waltz, a duo with Enrico Pieranunzi. There are no weak points in Fonnesbæk’s manner of playing. His ability to perceive music as colors in his mind, his versatility with his instrument, combined with a strong sense of melody, harmony and rhythm, make him a wide-ranging and extraordinary musician, influenced both by Scandinavian nostalgia as well as American Jazz.
